The project continues the design team's ongoing dialogue with the urban façade.
The adaptive reuse of shophouses for commercial purposes has long been a familiar exercise in the context of Vietnamese cities. In this case, a two-story building with a lightweight structure becomes a subtle recess within a dense streetscape filled with closely packed high-rise buildings.
We explored a new form of interaction through a façade system made of eco-friendly corrugated metal sheets, accentuated along the vertical axis to create a striking contrast—between tall and low, solid and void, rough and smooth. This calibrated contrast aims to redefine the building’s presence while maintaining harmony with its surroundings.
At the same time, maintaining a visual connection with the vibrant life of Phan Xich Long’s food street remained a key priority. A series of openings were restructured in various shapes, sizes, and proportions, offering layered and diverse views—framing the urban rhythm through multiple lenses, both private and suggestive.
